TRIBUTES
Designed exclusively for the Sursock museum store in Beirut
Margherita pays tribute to the Gondole (mid-1950’s), by architect Joseph Philippe Karam, and Skaff (1958), by architect Nadim Majdalani, the acclaimed Modernist buildings behind her exclusive collection for the Sursock Museum in Beirut.
Choosing signature design elements from these building, drawing inspiration from them and adapting them into jewelry is a way of documenting and preserving distinctive architectural works that deserve to be recognized for their Modernist aesthetics expressed through concrete stylings.
A big thank you goes to Dr. George Arbid and the Arab Center for Architecture for allowing me access to their archives and providing information and photos.
